Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

So Sreyoum

Srey Oum is 15 years old, and she is in grade 10 at Ben Teay Meas high School in Tuk Meas village, Tuk Meas Commune, Ben Teay Meas District, Kampot province.

She is the second child in the family. Her parents are farmers. Her father’ name Mr. So Teth and her mother’ mother name Mrs. Sing Sarom. They have about a half of hectares of farm land that they grow rice twice a year. Besides growing rice, her parents raise cows and pigs. Because their annual harvest is insufficiency, her father sometimes goes to work as a construction worke for his neighbors for extra income. Still, what they earn is not enough for the family’s need. Sreyoum sometime stays home and helps her mother do house work and feed the cows and the pigs.

In the future Srey Oum wants to be a teacher so she can share her knowledge with the kids in her village.
