Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Bon Mom

Bon Mom is a 14 -year-old student in 8th grade at The House of Joy and Happiness School in Thkeng village, Rohas commune, Rovieng district, Preah Vihear province.

Bon Mom is the youngest in her family, and she has one older brother.  Both of Bon Mom’s parents are farmers, and they live in a small house on their land that is 30m×50m.  Bon Mom’s family uses their land to raise six hens and one pig, and the rest of the land is used to grow rice, that can produce up to 2 tons of rice per year.  Mom’s family sells the rice for $50, which is the family’s only source of income, and cannot support the whole family’s needs.  Due to the poor conditions the family is living in, Mom often cannot attend school because she needs to help with house chores, nor does she have enough money for her studies.
