Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Ruon Lann

Ruon Lann is a 15 years old student in 9th grade at The ASIJ School which is located in Chup Krom village, Svay Leu commune, Svay Leu district, and Siem Reap province.

Lann has gotten only two siblings including her. She is the first born in the family. Her parents are farmers. They have owned one hectare of farmland for transplanting rice. According to the current living condition her parents have produced rice every year and they benefited for two tons of rice’s output per year. After harvesting rice, her parents had sold out for one ton and half of rice and they got about $282 in order to compensate to the fertilizers shop. And amount of remained money was afforded for the family’s consumption but it wasn’t enough for their whole year needs. She sometime hasn’t attended the school regularly because of her parents asked her to take care the animals at home.
