Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Thai Chantha

Chantha is a 13 years old student in Grade 5 at at The Janie’s School #524 in Snam Preah commune, Bakan district, Pursat province.

There are five members in her family. She has two sisters and one brother. She is the third child in the family. Chantha doesn’t have a father. Now she lives with her widow mother and a grandmother. Her mother divorced with her father since she was a kid. Her mother is a farmer. She has a small farmland which can produce rice about 420 kg a year. In order to get more income to support the family, her mother also find food plants around the village to sell at the market.

Chantha is struggled for her studying; she sometimes stayed home to take care of her younger sister.
