Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Pon Chhing Hor

Pon Chhing Hor is 16 years old student in 8th grade at The IROHA School which is located in O Svay village, O Svay commune, Thalaborivath district, and Stung Treng province.

Chhing Hor was born in a poor family and she has gotten four siblings including her. She is the second born in the family. They have owned one hectare of farmland which produced 45 sacks of rice per year. Chhing Hor said that after rice harvesting her parents sold 25 sacks to get some profit to reserve for daily food, ailment’s treatment and also payback to fertilizer shop. Even they sold rice but it does not enough money to support her school supplies and uniforms. Therefore, sometimes she asks permission from school for a few days off to work as a cashew nut collector with her neighbors.

For her future goal, she wishes to be a specialized mathematics teacher because she prefers to teach this subject to the next generation.
