Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

To Be Selected

En Mao is a 21 years old student in 11th grade at The ASIJ School which is located in Chup Krom village, Svay Leu commune, Svay Leu district, and Siem Reap province.

Mao has gotten ten members in a poor family, her parents, three older sisters, two older brothers, one younger sister and one younger brother and herself. She is the sixth born in the family and her parents have one hectare and half of farmland for growing rice. From year by year they have grown rice for one hectare and half and they have gathered from 30 sacks to 35 sacks.

Mao described that they have sold 25 sacks of them and got $400 from traders. Although, they could earn some incomes from selling rice but those incomes couldn’t settle the family well. Therefore, they have had to grow some vegetables and raised some chickens in order to serve for family’s needs. However, the amount of that revenue still wasn’t adequate to buy food, clothes and school supplies for Mao’s schooling.
