Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Thy Sreyli

Thy Sreyli is a 10-year-old student in 3rd grade at Grace, Hope, Beloved School, which is located in Boeng Veng Village, Tangkrsamng commune, Beathy district and Kampong Cham Province.

Sreyli has gotten nine siblings but a few of them already get married and they have been living separately Presently, she has been living in a very poverty-stricken family with her parents and siblings such as her parents, her two brothers and four sisters including her. She is the youngest child in the family. Her parents are farmers who have owned two hectares of farmland for growing rice.

According to the current living condition of her family so her parents have produced rice yearly and they could get 2,000kg of rice’s output per year. For amount of 2,000kg of rice output, her parents sold 1,000kg to merchant and got $200 in order to disburse to other things for the family’s needs.

Sreyli complained, although her parents could receive for $200 from selling rice but that benefit was insufficient to hold out their daily needs. Therefore, her father had to seek for another job to work as the construction worker and got $7.5 of benefit per day in order to patch up for daily food but it was not regularly income. Presently, her parents have raised 3 cows for helping the rice paddy and they also have fed some chickens to afford their family’s needs.

Sreyli expressed that in the future goal she wants to be a doctor at one clinic in the city because she loves treatment and like taking care of the patients very much.
