Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Yoeurm Savy

Yoeurm Savy is a 15 years old student in 9th grade at The ASIJ School which is located in Chup Krom village, Svay Leu commune, Svay Leu district, and Siem Reap province.

Savy has gotten nine siblings including her. She is a ninth born in the family. Her parents are farmers. They have owned half hectare of farmland for transplanting rice. According to the current living condition of her family they have produced rice every year and they benefited 800kgs to 1000kgs of rice’s output per year. Savy said her parents hadn’t sold the rice out owing to they have fed many members in the family so they have had to serve the rice for their daily consumption.

Savy complained, regarding on her big family’s responsibility therefore her parents had have to grow vegetables and some amount of her old sisters and brothers were forcedly dropped out the school and found a job to do as construction’s laborers in order to get some benefit to assist the family. Sometimes, Savy hasn’t attended the school regularly owing to her parents asked her to help take care of the animals at the rice field.
