Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Pha Sophun

Sophun is a 9-years-old student in 3rd grade at The Cambodia Hope Schoolin Melum village, Melum commune, Boribo district, Kompong Chhnang province.

Sophun has two siblings. Her parents are farmers. They had no land. They rent other villager’s land to do the farm. They do farming to support their life, but they live so hard because the income they earn from doing farm is not enough for them to support their daily life. When the farming season is ended, they feed pets to make more income. However, her father works as a construction worker when the farming season is ended. They are living in a cottage.
