Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Un Latin

Latin is an 11-years-old student in 5th grade at The Cambodia Hope Schoolin Melum village, Melum commune, Boribo district, Kompong Chhnang province.

Her parents are farmers. They have 70 m2 of farmland, on which to produce 800 kg of rice per year. However, they must give half of their rice harvest to the farmer that they buy farming materials from for the farming process. Her mother said that the rice doesn’t cover their needs throughout the year. Therefore, they have to buy additional rice to eat for themselves.

Sometimes Latin and her mother harvest rice for their neighbor. They can earn about $5.00 a day to supplement their income. However, Latin needs to help her mother with housework, such as cleaning and cooking, when her mother work in the field.
