Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

To Be Selected

Viay Fann is a 12 year old girl who was admitted into Girls Be Ambitious Program. Now, she is in her 5th grade at The Preap Sar (Dove) School in Krouch Village in Ratanakiri Province.

Fann is the fourth child in the family of seven members. Her parents are poor farmers. They all work on the small farm where they can plant only rice. The income from this farm is not enough to support the family throughout the whole year. On most days, their meals are just rice sprinkled with salt and pepper. Fann had to stay home in order to help her family and carried out chores around the house. Due to these difficult conditions, Fann was often absent from school.

After the staff from GBA explained her family about the benefits of education for the future, they agreed to support Fann to go back to school regularly. With the help from GBA program, now Fann can attend school every day.
