Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Ly Vieng

Ly Vieng is an 11-year-old student in 5th grade at The Shintoshin Rotary and Speros (Hawaii) School in Pal Hal Village, Rik Reay Commune, Rovieng District, Preah Vihear Province.

She has one sister. Her family has a paddy field that is far away from home. When planting or harvesting season arrives, the family has to leave home about a month in order to work on the farm. Ly Vieng also goes to farm with her parents because there is no body at home. By the way, she has to look after her sister and cook meal for her parents while they are working on the farm. They work hard, but rice crop collected is not enough to live on. They live from mouth to hands.
