Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Kim Sreyon

Kim Sreyon is a 10 year- old student in Grade 2 at at The Kirivorn School in Kirivorn Village in Kok Kong Province.

She is the fourth child in the family. She has three brothers. The family is poor and does not have any farmland. They don’t get any income from farming. Her father is a day laborer in the village and earns money by clearing up grass and doing other odd jobs for neighbors.  For this type of work Sreyon’s father gets $ 5 a day. Unfortunately, this work is not regular for Sreyon’s father. Her mother stays home and cannot do anything because she has disease of high blood pressure. Living in such difficult conditions; Sreyon has to help her family with all the work around the house.
