Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Sreyleap is 14 years old, student in 9th grade at the Dahlia Sam School in Roung Mashin village, Tasal commune, O’ral district, Kampong Speu province.

Sreyleap has two sisters and three brothers. She is the fourth child in the family. She lives with her widow mother who owned 1 hectare of farmland where they can produce rice during the rainy season. They can gather from 15 to 20 sacks of rice production in year. After rice cultivation, her mother also grows some vegetables and corns to sell. Her mother can earn about 4,500 to 5,000 riels per day to support the daily family needs.

In her free time, Sreyleap does homework, helps her mother’s housework and field work. She gets 500 to 1000 riels for school day.

In the future, Sreyleap wants to be a teacher because she wants sharing her knowledge and loves working with children. She hopes this job is good for her and can have salary to support her family.
