Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Chhoeng Dalin

Chhoeng Dalin is a 14 years-old student in 8th grade at The Naohiro Nishiya School in Tbaung Teuk Village, Meanrith Commune, Sandann District, and Kampong Thom Province.

Chhoeng Dalin from a medium family of 5 members and she has gotten 4 siblings including her. She has gotten two brothers and one sister and she is the second child in her family. Dalin said that, they do not have their own land for growing rice. Therefore, they rent their neighbor’s farmland to transplant the rice. They have got about 400kg of rice per year but in the amount of that rice they have to return half of that rice back to the landlord for land employment.

Besides the harvest season Dalin’s father has plied miscellaneous job such as he has created charcoal oven and gotten the income from selling the charcoals for solving their family’s needs. Dalin addressed that her parents have sold charcoals twice a month and they could benefit of selling charcoals from $40-$50 per month. Dalin stated that her family tries to work hard every day but it still doesn’t cover her needs.
