Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Bav Socheata

Bav Socheata is an 15 year- old girl who was selected into Girls Be Ambitious Program. She is now in the eight grade at The Kirivorn School in Kirivorn Village in Koh Kong Province. She maintains her perfect attendance.

Socheata is the first child in the family of three members including her younger sister and mother. Her mother is very poor farmer and she does not have any plot of land. She has to work for other villagers in order to earn the money for her living with her two daughters but most of the time she gets sick. As a result, she has no money to buy food. Due to the difficult conditions in the family, Socheata decided to skip school and stayed home to help her mother with all the work and look after her mother when she is sick.

After meeting with the staff from GBA, Socheata and her mother are very happy that Socheata can go back to school with the support from GBA Program.
