Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Khonn Sokthen

Khonn Sokthen is a 15-year-old student in the 8th grade at Kimino Yume Mezaseba Kanau School in Romduol village,Varin commune, Varin District, Siem Reap province, Cambodia.

Sokthen has nine siblings, four sisters and five brothers, and she is the eighth child in the family. She lives with her parents in Varin village, Varin commune, Varin district, Siem Reap province, Cambodia.  Both of Sokthen’s parents are farmers, and they grow some rice and potatoes on their small amount of farm land.  It is hard for Sokthen to attend school every day because she has to help with housework, and sometimes help her parents harvest the rice.  In the future, Sokthen wants to become a teacher.
