The George Mrus School

 (October, 2001)

Thy Thear is a 12-year-old third grade student at the George Mrus School.  He was ranked third among his 45 class mates last year.  His father is a doctor and his mother is a housewife.  He is the oldest of six brothers and sisters.  Two of his sisters are also at the school.

In Their Own Words. . .

On the new building: “The new building has walls, a roof, and enough tables for all students to sit down.  It is very convenient compared to the old school.  I am happy to study here.”

On school subjects: “I am good at Khmer.  My second favorite subject is mathematics.  I hate social studies because I cannot catch up.”

On his hobbies: “I like to play football and go swimming.”

On his future: “When I grow up I want to be a doctor like my father.  As a doctor, I can help cure poor people who are sick.  I want to continue to high school and then apply to the Faculty of Medicine.”
