The Takao Onoda School

Mao Sambo is a sixth grade student at the Takao Onoda School.

On himself: I am fifteen years old, and have six siblings; three of them go to the Onoda school. I am the fourth born. My parents are both rice farmers. We live 500 meters from school. It takes me five minutes by bike to get to school every day.

On the new building: When I was studying at the old school, there were many problems with the rain. The rain would always disturb us, because the roof would leak and water could come in through the walls. Also, the room was narrow, and the desks were broken.

On computer and English classes: The classes are voluntary, but I want to go. I think they are helpful for my future. I like to study them both. I like drawing pictures on the computer best, and typing.

In his spare time: I help my parents with their work. I watch the cows and help plant rice. When I have the time, I like to play soccer with my classmates.

In the future: If I could be anything I wanted, I would be a doctor. I could help the patients in the village.

Favorite subject: I like Social Studies the best. It teaches me about what goes on around me.
