Kok Channa, a fourth grade student (April, 2001)

Kok Channa is 14 years old. She is in the fifth grade at The World Mate School Number Five.

In Their Own Words. . .

on her family “I am in the fourth grade here at this new school. I have one brother and three sisters. My younger brother Nget is 10 years old and he is in the second grade here. My younger sister Mach is 7 years old and is in the first grade here, also. My two younger sisters, Mach and Sar, are 5 years old and 9 months old, so they are too young to study. My father’s name is Khoon and he is 38 years old. My mother’s name is Phaly, and she is 39 years old. They are both farmers.”

on the new building “I am happy with the new school building. I like to come to school because this new building is very nice.”

on her worst subject “I don’t like social studies because I cannot understand it in class.”

on her hobbies “When I have free time I take care of my younger sisters. I also like to play games with my friends.”

on her future “I want to be a teacher in the future because I like the job.”
