School

Titi Da is a 15 years old fifth grade student at the Yokogawa Rokumaru-kai Friends School. Out of the 25 students in her class, she was ranked fifth.

On herself:

I have two brothers; one of them studies here as well. I am the eldest child in my family. My father is a policeman and my mother is a farmer. Our house is half a kilometer away from here.

On the new building:

It’s easy to study in the new school. I don’t have to walk very far to get to school. I used to walk 6 km to go to school. It took me an hour and a half to get there. Sometimes I could use a bike, though. At this school I’m no longer bothered by the rain. It also has new desks.

Favorite subject:

I like math and Khmer language.

On her spare time:

In my spare time I collect water from the well, cook for the family, feed our pigs, and sell vegetables at the market. The market is four kilometers away. I also sell them on the way to the market. The trip to the market takes me about three and half hours all in all. I go there on Thursdays and Sundays, when there’s no school.

In the future: I would like to be a teacher.

If she could do anything: A nurse, because I want to fight against diseases. I can help my family that way.

If she could travel anywhere I’d like to go to England, USA, China, and Thailand.

If she could have one wish:

A car.

Any wish in the world, and you want a car?

Okay, an airplane.
