Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Leam Sreyneang is 13 years old, She is studying at grade 7 A of Hikari school at Songkea village, Snoul commune, Kralanh district, in Siem Reap province.

Leam Sreyneang is the single child of her family and her father’s name is Soeur Leam had passed away.  Her mother’s name is Leam Rourm. She is 52 years old. And they are farmers. Sreyneang live in Thear Sna Village far from school about 6 km, And she go to school by her friend. Her family is poor and owned one hectare of farmland for growing rice. The rice can produce 10 bags of rice in per year (1 bag of rice is equal 100kg). After harvesting the rice her mother go to work at Thailand. Now she live with her grandmother. Therefore, besides the growing rice her mother fishing fish snail, crab for their daily food. Her mother is a window who supporting their family. She studies very hard and she is a good student in the class. After school, she helps her grandmother to do housework. In her free time, she likes to read the books and review the lessons from school.

For Leam Sreynreang’s future goal: She wants to be a Khmer teacher to earn money to support her family. And she wants to help all the kids in her village.
