Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

En Srey Pa is 14 years old, studies in the 7thgrade at The Svay Chek Secondary School, located in Anlong Spean village, Svay Chek Commune, Romdoul District, Svay Rieng province.

Srey Pa has three siblings and she is the first child in the family. Her father‘s name: Mr. En Chany and her mother’s name: Neang Chan, both of them are farmers. The family owns one hectare of farmland in which they can earn up to $250 a year from rice product. As this is not enough to support the family’s needs, her father has to go on trips as a labor worker far from home to carry the cement sack for the cement vender that he can earn $5 a day. Not all of these incomes are enough to support the family and their children’s daily needs. Sometimes, Srey Pa has to miss school to help taking care her siblings, helping in the rice field and other housework.

She wants to be a police; she thinks that a police could solve all the safety problems for her relatives in community.
