Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

To Be Selected

Neourn Srey Pich is a 12 years old student in the 5th grade at The Kirivorn School#90, which is located in Kirivorn village, Steung Chhay commune, Kampong Sela district and Preah Sihanouk province.

There are four members in Srey Pich’s family, such as her parents, one brother and Srey Pich is the first daughter. Her father is working as a logger. He goes into the forest very often to cut down the small trees to make handles of knives, handles of hoes and handles of spades.  He gets about $5 in per day of those things’ revenues.

Her mother works in the garment factory and she gets about $130 a month.  The amount of that money could not affordable her whole family’s needs due to she has to pay for food, ingredients, clothes, stationery supplies and uniforms for Srey Pich and her brother as well.  Srey Pich is a good daughter and she generally helps her mother’s house chores after school; such as washing clothes, cleansing house, and feeding hens. Srey Pich walks to school every day and studies very hard.

In the future goal, Srey Pich wants to become a pre-school teacher in her village, because of her school now does not have a pre-school teacher to teach small kids.
