Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Ngorn Chanthen is a 13-year-old Student in the  6th grade at the Cambodia Hope School in Melum village, Melum commune, Baribour district, Kampong Chhnang province.

Chanthen has five members in her family, one grandmother, one brother, two sisters and herself. Chanthen is the first child in the family. Her father, Ngan Chanvoeur is deceased, and her mother, Phan Kheathan, age 30, works as a potato cutter.  The family owns one hectare of farmland, producing 4 tons of rice per year, earning 2,400,000 riel a year.  Additionally, the family grows vegetables  to sell, earning 5,000 rile per day.

Ngorn Chanthen is a good student in class and she always get a good number in class and after work she always help her mother to do house work and look after her sibling.

Chanthen is a determined and hardworking student. In the future, Chanthen wants to become a doctor because she wants to help the poor citizens of her country.
