Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Sor Srey Pin

Sor Srey Pin is a 13 years old student in the 5th grade at The Kirivorn School#90, which is located in Kirivorn village, Steung Chhay commune, Kampong Sela district and Preah Sihanouk province.

There are four members in Srey Pin’s family; such as grandma, and three granddaughters including Srey Pin who is a third granddaughter in the family. Her parents were split up since she was a baby. Her grandmother hasn’t owned any farmland to transplant the rice. Presently, her grandmother is a pre-school teacher of the community and she gets $40 a month. Srey Pin said that, every day her grandma does not have any varied incomes to assist her family besides and her grandma’s salary. Commonly, the $40 that her grandma got from her teaching kids wasn’t still affordable to patch up the family’s needs though. In the future goal, Srey Pin wants to be a pre-school teacher like her grandma. She said that’s why she loves this job because she can help develop the field of education of her country and she can also share her knowledge to the students in her community.
