Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Yeun Ly Da is 13 years old and she is a student in 6th grade at the Sunnyside in Prasat village, Tong Rong commune, Prey Chhor district, Kompong Cham province.

She is the seventh child in the family and she has seven siblings. Her mother is a widow who divorced with her father since she was young. Her mother needs to feed her seven children in the family. They live in a poor family. Her mother has own farmland is about 30A for growing rice and they can produce 500kg to 700kg of rice and they are not sell because they keep for daily eating for a whole year. After finish from the rice season her mother Sometimes, she goes to works for other villagers or finds job as seasonal worker and get 5$ in a day to support of daily food. This hard situation makes Ly Da skips class very often because she can’t goes to school because she stays at home to look after her sibling and to do house work. Sometime, Her mother doesn’t have money to school supplies for her children. Even her mother gets the income from her job but it still not enough for cover of the daily expenses.

In the future, she wants to be an accountant she wants to works in the bank and she want to learn about the international system of financial and accounting report.e
