The Rom Chek Nippon

Foundation School

Sean Ro is a third grade student at the Rom Chek Nippon Foundation School.
He was ranked second in his class.

On himself: I am thirteen years old. I have six siblings. One of them is at school as well, but at another place. Landmines killed both my parents six years ago. I have been living with my oldest sister ever since. She lives right next to the school.

On the new building:

I am very happy with the new school. At the old school, it was impossible to study whenever it rained. Both the roof and the walls were old, and would let the water through. And we didn’t have enough desks—there were four students to every one desk. The new building is much nicer, and easy to study in.

On his spare time: I take the cows to the field, work in the fields, and work at home. In the fields, my brother lets me dam the rice-paddies. At home, I water the vegetables. We grow herbs, pumpkin, and garlic.

In the future:

I want to be a teacher.

Favorite Subject:

Math, because I learn about numbers.
