Chhen Moa, a firstgrade student at The Piero Derossi School (Feb. 2000)

Chhen Moa is a first grade student at the school.
He does not know his age because he is an orphan.

In Their Own Words. . .

On his parents: “Both of my parents died from a disease. I do not know which disease killed them.” (Chhen Moa’s parents probably died from malaria, a dangerous disease spread by mosquitoes which is found throughout rural Cambodia.  The use of mosquito nets while sleeping can greatly reduce the chances of contracting the disease).

On why he goes to school: “I want to go to school because I want to get knowledge.”

On hobbies: “I like to play volleyball and football (soccer) with friends.”
