Mr. Meas Tha, the Director of the Dixon Learning Center (August, 2001)

Mr. Meas Tha, 38 years old, became the Director of the Dixon Learning Center in 1997. He has been a teacher for 17 years. He has stopped teaching the last four years because he is busy with the work of running the school.

In Their Own Words. . .

On his family: “My wife is a farmer. I have one son and six daughters. Two of my children stopped studying after they failed the examination to enter secondary school. I have one son and one daughter both studying in third grade here at the Dixon Learning Center. Another of my daughters is studying at the Rom Chek Primary School, which is two km away from here. My remaining two daughters are too young for school.”

On school subjects: “Most kids like to study mathematics and Khmer because they are easy to understand. The subject they don’t like is social science because it is difficult.”

On keeping the students interested in class: “We are trying to decorate the rooms and we do our best to keep the school in good condition.”

Message for the Donor: “I would like to thank Mr. Hawley, donor of our new building, and I wish him good luck and a long life.”
