Foundation School

Sek Sreynet is a third grade student at the Pothipreuk
Nippon Foundation School. She was ranked third out of the fifty students in
her class.

On herself: I am thirteen years old, and the third oldest in my family. Altogether, I have six siblings. They are all at school, except my two older brothers; one is at a different primary school, and the other is married. My parents are farmers. [Like Kamasan’s parents, her parents also sell bamboo shoots to supplement the family income.]

On the new building: I am very glad to have the opportunity to study at the new school. It will make it much easier to learn. There are no holes in the roof, and it has new desks making it easier to write. It is also cooler to study in. It even has toilets. Thank you [Nippon Foundation].

On her favorite class: I like Khmer most. It is my favorite because reading is easy. I am good at dictation. Whenever we have dictation, I always get a good score. A nine or a ten, usually.

On her spare time: After school, I usually do my homework. I also babysit my five-year-old sister.

On her future: I would like to be a teacher, because I need money. If I could do anything I wanted to, I would like to have a stall at the market and sell stuff.
