On himself:

I have a son and four daughters. Three of my children are studying here, at this school. One is studying in secondary school. My wife is a farmer; I also farm when I’m not working at the school. I’ve been a teacher since 1986, and became director in 1989. I live right by the school. I’ve lived in this area since 1979.

On the new building:

Before the new school was built, some children were unable to study here. The old school was just too old. Fifth and sixth grade had to go and study at another school. Now we can accommodate all grades, and the students that were previously studying at the other school have now come back here for school.
Ever since the new school was built, the teachers have been very happy. They feel very comfortable teaching here. It’s encouraged them to do more, such as decorate the classroom, hang up pictures… The old building didn’t have any walls, so they couldn’t decorate there even if they’d wanted to. This school has brought with it many benefits. It’s closer to people’s houses, and the students only have to walk to school. Their parent’s don’t need to buy them bicycles or spend money on motorcycle-taxis anymore. The parents in this village are more enthusiastic about enrolling their children in school. |
