The Sam Seb Nippon

Foundation School

Chhem Phon is fourth grade student at the Sam Seb Nippon Foundation School.
Among the twenty-eight students of his class, he was ranked fourth.

On himself: I am fourteen years old. My father is farmer at the school village. I have two sisters and four brothers. Ten years ago, my family lived in a village in Kampot province. After that, my father divorced my mother because of internal problems. He married our neighbor and left Kampot province for this village. My father took four children while my mother took two.

On his study: I like math, because I think that it is easy to calculate. When you know arithmetic well, you can calculate how big your rice field is. Khmer literature is my second favorite subject, because I like reading. I read newspapers and textbooks very often.

On his future: When I grow up I want to be a mechanic. I think that as a mechanic I can earn more money than if I did other jobs, because in my village there are many tractors. When they break, they are towed to town to get fixed. It is better to have one repairer in the village. That is my intention.

On the new building: I am happy to learn in the new school building because it is big and the air is fresh.
