on the possibility of teaching his son: |
“I would rather not teach my son because if I am his teacher, he will not study hard!”
|
on his favorite subject to teach: | “I enjoy teaching mathematics because the children like to learn about numbers.” |
on keeping students interested: | “One must have experience to make children happy when they are bored in class. For example, in Social Studies, I will have the students do Khmer dances, sing songs, and play games.” |
on teaching in the new building: | “I like the new school building because it is safe and secure. I am able to hang the pictures that the children make on the walls.” (Before, the old school building had no real walls, so things left in the classroom would be blown away by wind or stolen.) |
on the future of his students: | “I hope that some of my kids will gain higher knowledge and will have good jobs. They could become doctors, teachers, or government officials.” |
message to Wakako Hironaka: | “On behalf of the teachers and the third grade students, I want to express thanks to the donor for the new school.” |
