Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Chan Ait

Ait is 15 years old, student in Grade 7 at the Romdos Sre’s School in Romdos Sre commune, Choam Ksan district, Preah Vihear province.

Ait has three older sisters and her. She lives with only her mother because her father passed away one year ago.  Her mother has owns farmland for one hectare for growing rice, and they can produce approximately 800kg of rice per year and they are keeping for daily eating in the whole year. This is not enough to feed the entire family for long, so Ait’s mother go to work as a construction worker, earning $5 a day to support her family living.  Additionally, some of the income Ait’s mother makes goes to paying off family debt from buying farming equipment. Ait is responsible to help her mother in the rice field, and tending to various house chores.

In the future, she wants to be actress because she loved this skill and she wants to helps her family to live in a good condition.
