Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Neurn Sreymeng

Neurn Sreymeng is 11 years old and she is a student in grade 5 at Vasaskolan School, which locates in Angbaksey village, Cheang Torng commune, Tramkak district Takeo province.

Sreymeng has 4 siblings, one brother and three sisters including her. She is the last child in the family. There are 8 members in her family with grandparents, parents, and 4 siblings. Her mother is a garment worker and her father is a farmer. Her father works as a construction worker in the dry season. They live in Angbaksey village, Cheang Torng commune, Tramkak district Takeo province. They own 1 hectare of farmland, which produces 20 sacks of rice in per year. They earn 150$ per month but they are in debt to private bank. In her free time, she likes reading books and helps housework like feeding animals, cooking and washing clothes.

In the future, she wants to become a teacher in her community. She said the reasons of becoming a teacher are helping relief her family burden, interacting with kids and inspiring them to study, having the opportunity to tell them to do the good did and avoiding using drugs. Most importantly she wants to become a teacher because she can changes her community to be better in education.
