Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Chhel Lina was born on February 20, 2004 in Prey Mol village, Cham Pei Commune, Baty District, Takeo province. She is in the 8th grade at Trakiet Secondary school (The Rita Hochhauser School).

Lina has 2 siblings (2 girls) and she is the second child in the family. Her sister is studying in grade 10th at Bun Rany Hun Sen Baty high school. Her father’s name is Mr. Chhel Nouern, 48 years old and her mother’s name is Sarum Sokhong, 45 years old, both of them are farmers. They have one hectare of farmland where they can earn about $300 per year from rice products. Out of growing rice, her father takes his times to run a moto-taxi and he can earn about 25,000 riels a day. Her mother is a housewife, she is very busy every day at home to take care of family food and other housework. Not all of the total income that her father can generate from his work are enough to support the family’s needs.

Chhel Lina wants to be a staff of an organization or company; she wants to have some income to help her father to support the family.
