Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

To Be Selected

Srey Tu is 13 years old, and she is in grade 7 at #347 The Doris Dillon School in Phnom Toch village, Sdach Kong Khang Tboung Commune, Banteay Meas District, Kampot province.

Srey Tu has 2 siblings and she is the second child in the family. Her father‘s name is Mr. Mok Morn ( Divorce with her mother ) and her mother’s name’s Chhorn Srey Tub, both of them are farmers. The family has owns one hectare of farm land in which they can earn up to $ 250 a year in rice production. As this is not enough to support the family’s needs, Srey Tu’s mather commonly has to work as a factory worker. One day she can earn $3. This means, that even with this additional income, the mother does not have enough money to support the family and their children’s everyday needs. As a result, Srey Tu commonly has to miss school to stay home and help to care for her siblings or help in the rice field and other housework.

Srey Tu’s goal wanted to be a teacher in her community. She wants to teach all kids in her location. Also, she wants to build girls up and give the women encouragement.
