Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Moeurn Vicheka is a 8 years old and she is a student in 2nd Grade at the Sunnyside School, located at Prasat village, Prasat commune, Prey Chhor district, Kampong Cham province.

Vicheka is the single child in the family. Her father’s name is Muong Vith. He’s 36 years old.  Her mother’s name is Mouern Thona. She is 32 years old. Her parents have left her since she was a baby and doesn’t know where her parents are living.  Now she lives with her grandmother. Her grandmother’s name is Muon Oun 65 years old and she’s a farmer and also she has 40A of crop yield of rice. After doing farming she sells fish in the village to earn money for living and feeding her grand-daughter. She can earn $2.5 to $4.00 for every day, but this is not enough for support whole family’s living. Her grandmother wants to see Vicheka finish high school and can get a good job for herself. Her grandmother would like to show her great thanks to the donor who help Vicheka so that she can finish her study and have a job. She commits to tell Vicheka to try to study at school and at home.

Vicheka is a very brave student in the class because she always asks question when she doesn’t understand and wants to do any task that the teacher assigns. As she doesn’t have a bike so every day she walks to school and walks come back home. After school Vicheka helps her grandmother’s housework and study more at home.

In the future, She commits to finish high school and wants to get job as a teacher because she wants to help teach the students in her village to get good knowledge. Also, She wants to help her grandmother when she have a job and get good salary.
