Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

My Soeur

My Soeur is a 9-year-old student in 3rd grade at Grace, Hope, Beloved school, which is located in Boeng Veng village, Tang krasang commune, Batheay district, and Kampong Cham province.

My Soeur has gotten twelve members in her very poverty-stricken family, such as parents, six daughters, and four sons. Her three older sisters and two older brothers got married and went to live with their families. Her siblings have lived with each other. Her parents are farmers and they have only 0.15 hectare to build a house, but they do not own any farmland to grow rice.

Depend on selling an ice-cream at other villages her mother earns about $5 per day wasn’t enough for member’s needs such as food, rice, medicine. Her father has always gone to the field to catch fishes in a lake which is far from her house 2.5 kilometers, and all fishes and snails that her father caught were for food so hard, he has always gone to the field to catch fishes for twice a week. Sometimes, her brother that got married buy food, rice, gave some money to her mother to support all members of a family.

My Soeur is a good student at school, she works hard to answer for all question, try to copy a lesson to her notebook for her teacher to correct, and try to find an answer in mathematics. On the weekend, she goes to find fish, and nail with her father.

For her future goal; she wants to be a teacher of primary school in her village. Because she really wants to give education to the kids in her village and she can save her salary to buy land for growing rice as well for their living to get better than before.
