Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Dany is a 13-year-old and she is a student in the 6th grade at The Cambodia Hope School in Melum village, Melum commune, Boribour district, Kompong Chhnang province.

Dany has one younger sister, and she is the eldest child in the family. Her father’s name is Voung Sopheak and her mother’s name is Khan Tengke . Her parents have moved to Preah Vihear Province to work as construtction workers and gets 7$ in a day and they always send to their parent for amount 150$ to support their childrend school supplies, so Dany and her younger sister live with her grandparents. Her grandparents have own one hectare of farmland, but they are getting old and their health is not good, so they cannot grow rice. Thus, they rent their farmland and get some rice to eat, but it is not enough to support the whole family.  As a result, their aunt gives them 25$ /month for food.

Dany commonly misses school as she has to help to do housework and to take care of her old grandparents.
Dany wants to become a khmer teacher when she grows up because she wants to educate the children in her community.
