The Brighter Tomorrow School

(September, 2001)

Mao Chan Eng is a 13-year-old fifth grade student.  He was ranked ninth in his class of 15 students.  His father is a village chief.

In Their Own Words. . .

On the new building: “My house is about 1 kilometer from the school.  My two younger sisters and I travel by foot.  We like going to school because we love learning and we like the new school building very much.  It is cooler than the old building, and has a toilet.”

On school subjects: “I haven’t any subjects that I dislike.  I like them all.”

On his hobbies: “I do housework and help my parents.  Sometimes I play shuttlecock and badminton with my friends.”

On his family: “My parents want me to graduate from higher level schools, because they want me to have knowledge.”

On his future: “I would like to become chief of a garment factory.”

Message for the donor: “I thank the donor of the Brighter Tomorrow School for allowing me and all the children to gain knowledge.  I wish this donor good health.”
