Phan Sophany, 16 years old, is a third grade student at the school.  She was ranked second among the 25 students in her class.  She has one younger brother in her class, another in first grade, and a younger sister who will start at the school next year.  Her father is a policeman and her mother is a farmer.

In Their Own Words.

On the new building: “I am happy with the new building because I can continue to study here.  At the old building, there were no walls, and so it was difficult to study.”

On school subjects: “I like all subjects because they are all important and I want to become smart.”

On her hobbies: “When I have free time, I do nothing besides helping my parents.  When I meet my friends, we like to sit and talk about the lessons.”

On her history: “Before I used to live at Rithisen camp and then I came to live at Osalav in Battambang province, then I came to live here.  My family always moved because my parents want to find good jobs.”

On her future: “When I grow up, I think I will have nothing to do besides being a crop farmer.”
