The Ro Bas Raing Nippon

Foundation School

Nak Samneang is a twelve years old third grade student at the Ro Bas Raing Nippon Foundation School.
She was ranked top of her class of 40 students.

On herself:

My five siblings are all studying at this school with me. My parents are farmers. My father also makes oxcarts to sell. I think people pay 60,000 riels [$15] for one cart. Our house is just down the road from the school. It takes me two minutes to walk home.

On the new building:

It’s very easy to study in the new school, because it’s a very nice school. The quality of the building is good. When I studied at the old school, the building would always shake whenever the wind blew, and bricks would fall down. I’m never disturbed by either wind or rain at this school.

Favorite subject:

Khmer, because it’s easy to learn.

In ten years time:

I hope to be a nurse, and help my mother if she gets sick. I will still be living in this village. I will be married and have three children.

On her spare time:

In my spare time I feed my dog. In the evening, I do my homework.
