Mon Somotha, a 14-year old girl studying in the 5th grade school.

Mon Somotha is a 14-year old girl studying in the 5th grade of the Sir Graham Balfour School. She is currently ranked 5th in a class of 30 students. She has one brother and three sisters; her brother is enrolled in the 7th grade in Phnom Penh, while one of her sisters studies in Pursat province.

“My father works as a government soldier while my mother is a farmer.”

“I like studying Khmer literature the most because it helps me with communication. I want to be a teacher when I grow up so that I can teach the next generation.”

“If I could, I would like to travel to Angkor Wat in Siem Reap because I’ve never been there.”

“Having the new school around makes me feel happy. It encourages me to try harder in school. Thank you for constructing it!”
