The Suon Ampov Leu Nippon

Foundation School

(August, 2001)

Sourn Chanthy is a 13-year-old third grade student at The Suon Ampov Leu Nippon Foundation School.  She was ranked first among the 33 students in her class.

In Their Own Words. .

On the new building: “I like to come to school because I can gain knowledge and I think it is very nice.  The new school building is nicer than the old building because the old building was worn down and in the pagoda compound.”

On school subjects: “I like learning social science because I learn how to understand things and respect people.  I don’t like applied science because it is difficult to read.”

On her hobbies: “When I have free time, I like to study and read with my friends.”

On her future: “I would like to be a businesswoman when I grow up because this has been my aim since I was young.”

On her family: “I have no siblings.  My father is 45 years old and he is working at the Department of Culture.  My mother is 35 years and she sells little things from our house.”

Message for the Nippon Foundation: “I thank The Nippon Foundation.”
