The Taing Krasao Nippon

Foundation School

Ngon Voen is a 15-year-old fourth grade student at the Taing Krasao Nippon Foundation School.
She was ranked first in her class of 43

On herself:

I have seven sisters. Four of them are at school. My parents are both farmers. Our house is just down the road from school.

On the new building:

I’m very happy with the new school. It’s much more comfortable to study here. I used to be afraid that the old school would collapse. Whenever it started raining, the wind would blow into our classroom. Sometimes the wind would also take away a few tiles. The new building is solid; we don’t have any more problems with wind or rain.

Favorite subject:

I like Khmer the most. Understanding Khmer makes me enjoy the rest of my studies more.

On her spare time:

In my spare time I work with my parents in the rice fields. I work about five hours every day.

In the future:

I want to be a nurse and save people.

If she could do anything:

A doctor.

If she could travel anywhere

I would travel to Preah Vihear. I want to visit that place.
