Ly Thery is a 10-year-old third grade student at the Tokyo West Rotary Club School.  She has four elder brothers and one younger brother.  Two are in fourth grade at the school, and her youngest brother is in first grade.  Her father is a teacher and her mother is a farmer.  They live 300 m away from the school.

In Their Own Words. . .

On the new building: “I like the new building because it is cool.  The old building was very hot and hard to study in.”

On school subjects: “I like learning Khmer because learning how to write is easier than learning numbers.  I don’t like applied science because it is difficult to understand and I don’t like the teacher.”

On her hobbies: “When I have free time, I like to clean my house, or to run and talk with my friends.”

On her future: “I want to study until high school to get knowledge.  My parents also want me to graduate.  I want to be a teacher when I grow up.”

If I could go anywhere…:  “I would go to Phnom Penh because I want to continue to study and I have never left this village.”

If I could do anything…:  “I would help this village because the villagers here are poor.”

Message for the donor: “I would like to thank the Tokyo West Rotary Club for donating this school building.”
